Macro synthetic fibre association
The Macro Synthetic Fibre Association (MSFA) is a group of companies who have come together to advance the knowledge and adoption of macro synthetic fibre (MSF) concrete reinforcement. Today confidence in MSF is at an all-time high, due in no small part to the substantial investment manufacturers have made over the past 20 years developing the product into a widely accepted reinforcement in many concrete applications.

As our industry matures two distinct groups have developed: that of the fibre manufacturers and that of the fibre user groups. This Association aims to bring together these two groups with the aim of educating the broader concrete market of the benefits that this type of reinforcement can offer to the construction community and to ensure its safe and responsible use.

Hence our membership is open to manufacturers, developers, researchers and users of MSF who have an interest to further the understanding of this type of reinforcement.

The Association will develop a quality benchmark for MSF as well as bring together the relevant standards, codes and guidelines to enable both current and future users of MSF to more easily use this type of reinforcement.

Our Aims and Objectives

To ensure the safe and responsible use of MSF reinforcement in the global concrete industry. To create links between like-minded professionals who wish to encourage a greater understanding of fibre reinforced concrete, specifically the use of MSF.

To represent the MSFA on national and international professional bodies and educational establishments in order to share knowledge and generate confidence in the use of MSF in a wide range of applications.

To heighten the awareness of design engineers, main contractors, specialist contractors and concrete suppliers to the technical, practical and commercial advantages of Macro Synthetic Fibre (MSF) Reinforcement.

Contec Fiber AG

Our extensive know-how about the use of synthetic fibers dates back to the 70s of the last century when the company Arnheiter AG (Forta Seilwerke) which later became a part of the Brugg Group got a patent for “Fibrous reinforcing means for cementiously bound composite structures and coatings”.

At the beginning these fibers were used only for optimizing the shrinkage behavior of the concrete, but over the years the technology has been further improved. The fibers available today are able to either reduce or completely replace the conventional reinforcement, always based on static calculations according to the latest standards and regulations.

2010 the fiber-know-how was transferred to Brugg Contec which has been founded especially for the further development, production and selling of high-performance-fibers.

Our philosophy:

Use of high-quality synthetic fibers for general cost savings and CO2 reduction.
